Andago at Med-e-Tel 2010

During last week I've been at Med-e-Tel Congress in Luxembourg. I was one of the speakers for:

Telemonitoring and Data Sharing
I've shown what we are doing on this area during my presentation: "Open Health Assistant, a Solution Designed to Support the Evolution of Clinical Practice and Prevention, Transferring Diagnosis and Therapy to the Patients' Homes"
The feedback was really promising, because most people were agree about the idea of combining OpenSource, mobile platform and ehealth services, the way we are doing in Andago with our solution OHA
Benefits of Free/Libre Open Source Software in Health Care (FLOSS-HC): Open Source in eHealth Infrastructure
My talk here was about OCH project, and focus on the research we are doing in trust and provenance for information/knowledge coming from different sources like social networks

In general, the congress was really positive, because I had the opportunity to talk with some partners, meet new ones, and see what is being done in R&D in some areas we are already working on. On the other side, I've seen a lot of demands about standarization, openess, ... but there weren't talks about Continua Health Alliance, or most of the apps shown were closed source ones. So, it was really confusing seeing a lot of apps doing the same thing, but none of them were implementing already existing open standards. From our experience, an Open Innovation environment combined with open standards implementations, could increase the integration of these solutions.

In the mhealth area there were some critics about how many apps exist already, and how they are tied to mobile providers walled garden. On this side, I think that using the Web as delivery platform is the best way to ensure that anyone has access to the ehealth solution we are creating. So expect for more news coming from this area.

On the other side, coming back home was really a madness "due to volcano activity". So I had to stay for two days more at Luxembourg (good for visiting a really nice city), and travel by TGV to Paris (great two hours visit), and from Paris to Hendaya, and by bus to Bilbao's airport to get my car to go to our office at Zamudio.

So, what's next? Well, let's see what are we going to show in Continua Summer Summit in June... Stay tunned.
