During last months we have been working on integrating our existing ehealth services web application with our R&D on connectivity between mobile devices and biomedical devices implementing IEEE 11073:20601 (following Continua Health Alliance guidelines). What have we done? We are moving from a native application to a web application. And very briefly, we are testing our solution, based on:
- Our current Continua compliant manager, that handles data connection with biomedical devices.
- A custom browser component, with HTML5 and some W3C Devices APIs support. Added to this, we have created a Javascript API to handle connectivity with the Continua manager, very similar to W3C Geolocation API.
- A web page, that is loaded by the browser and get data from the connected devices.
Android stuff has been quite easy since most of the work was already done, but we would like going a bit further. We are working on a webapp based solution, because we belive on the Web as one of the best channels for apps deployoment, because you would just need a browser: code once, and run everywhere.
So, what's next? Why not trying MeeGo? We have taken latest Nokia SDK Beta, and we have ported the custom browser, and... That's all! Everything works, as it can be seen on next video, where it shows how we test our software with Continua Enabling Software Libraries:
So, we are ready for Android, and now, MeeGo too. Our plan is to make a more complete showcase during Continua Summer Summit. Stay tuned!.
